What is Ghanaian Damii?
Damii is the traditional form of draughts (checkers) played passionately across Ghana and other parts of West Africa. Unlike standard 8x8 checkers, Damii is played on a 10x10 board with 20 pieces per player.
The game is characterized by its unique ruleset: pieces are set up in a mirrored orientation rather than rotational, capturing is strictly compulsory, and "Kings" can fly across the entire length of the board.
